Phthalates, a harmful group of chemicals, are widespread in food, personal care products, and household items. They are linked to various health issues including diabetes, obesity, reproductive harm, hormone disruption, developmental delays, lower IQ in children, and infertility. Manufacturers often hide phthalates in product ingredients, commonly under the term "fragrance" or "parfum," making it difficult to identify their presence. This deceptive practice is especially prevalent in personal care products like shampoo, face wash, toothpaste, and deodorant. While most products use synthetic fragrances (phthalate-based), some use natural fragrances from essential oils, which are generally safer but can still cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
